A singularly historic sofa by Paul McCobb for Directional Furniture, a showroom order circa 1959-1961.
This piece is not only in incredible condition, but it also has clear provenance including the original sales receipt which shows this was purchased by Carl Conrad Braun, a significant architect for Mr. W. A. O. Gross, an advertising executive on Fifth Avenue (his company Ted Bates, Inc. would merge with Saatchi & Saatchi in the 1980s).
The sofa itself is an 86" piece with squared back and arms. The distinguishing walnut legs with aluminum cross-bars identifies it as a McCobb. This has the original upholstery in very good, usable condition.
